Designed for youth, grades 6 through 12, the youth ministry program of Christ the Lord inspires growing relationships with Christ and with one another. Combining learning, fellowship, and service events, this program is enthusiastically attended by our youth. Contact Vickie Davis, Director of Youth Ministry, (ext. 115) for more details on the following ministries:
Confirmation Ministry (Grades 6-8): Confirmation is taught to our Middle School youth during the regularly scheduled Sunday School Class time, each Sunday morning at 10am. Our Confirmation is a three year program, covering the Old Testament, The New Testament, and The Small Catechism. Eighth grades are Confirmed in May of each year.
Sunday School Classes: For both middle and high school youth, classes are offered each week at 10am. Our High Schoolers participate in a ‘Current Events’ curriculum, which discusses what’s happening in our world around us, and how we respond to and incorporate these events within our faith journey. Our Middle Schoolers study the Confirmation Curriculum, which is taught in a three year rotation.
Friends of Faith Teens: Middle and high school students meet on Wednesday nights from 5:30 to 7:00 pm. The group offers learning time, fellowship, and service. FOF Teens follows the Friends of Faith schedule with dinner served at 6:30 pm. There is a fee to cover the cost of the meal.
All Georgia Youth Gathering: A weekend retreat for youth in grades 6 through 12 to come together in fellowship and worship with other Lutheran youth from the state.
AFFIRM: A week-long summer camp for youth in grades 6 through 12, sponsored by the Southeastern Synod.
SESLYO: “ Southeastern Synod Lutheran Youth Organization” is for high schoolers who are looking to be leaders within their congregations and their Synod. Each year, our church sends two delegates (high school) and a few ‘visitors’ to the Annual SESLYO meeting. Many of our youth have been Board Members! Here is a way for the voice of the youth to be heard throughout the ELCA!
National Youth Gathering: The ELCA Youth Gathering is for high school-aged youth (completed grades 9-12). The National Youth Gathering is a triennial event that takes place over five days – Wednesday to Sunday – and includes opportunities for worship, service, fellowship, study and holy play.
Servant Camp for Teens: This is a week-long camp experience for youth who have completed grades 7-12. Youth participate in faith formation, community service, and leadership development. This is not offered during National Youth Gathering years.
Annual Retreat: The annual youth retreat, held at the beginning of the school year, is a time for fun and fellowship.
Youth Worship: CTL Youth have their own Worship Team that plans weekly and leads worship monthly on Sunday evenings. They meet on Sundays at 11 am.
