For the last four months the staff and church council have worked together at offering worship services in different formats.
- First, we developed a pre-recorded online option that we are improving weekly.
- Second, we created a parking lot service as another option where folks could participate in person.
- Just recently we developed an in house service for 50 or less.
None of these options we have had Communion, for many logistical and safety reasons. Now, beginning on August 2 at 9:00 a.m. we will offer on the first Sunday of the month a parking lot service with communion. (This will replace the in house service for that day).
Participants are invited to bring their own bread, wine, or grape juice. You may wish to use bread alone. If you are afraid of having wine in the car, you can use grape juice. Or if you are only worried about a left over amount, you can dispose of it in the grassy area following the service.
We have all waited for this moment. You can bring or invite anyone you wish. ALL ARE WELCOME. You will tune your car radio to 88.7 on your FM dial and we will commune together from our cars. Nothing has to be
touched by anyone other than the people in your vehicle.
The service should last 35-45 minutes. The scripture for the day at the first communion service on August 2 is The Feeding of the Five Thousand. How appropriate! We will still offer our online service for that day for those who would like to stay at home and enjoy worship from the comfort of their own abode.
We have been working towards this for some time. With prayer and consultation and by observing practices of neighboring Lutheran congregations we believe this option best works for our community. We thank you for your patience and hope you will be able to join us for these special services as we will also pray for the day we can return to the sanctuary and go back to a completely normal experience.
In His Service,
