Designed for children and youth of all ages the Faith Formation Ministry inspires growing relationships with Christ and with one another. Combining learning, fellowship, and service events, programs are enthusiastically attended by our children and youth. Under the watchful eye of Diane Thomas, Director of Faith Formation, programs are offered which teach faith, nurture joy and security, and fill the halls with laughter and noise!
Children’s Sunday School
Weekly our children learn of Jesus, connect with friends, and experience Christ’s love through dedicated teachers. At 10:00, there are classes available for children 4 through 5th grade.
Youth Sunday School Classes
For both middle and high school youth, classes are offered each week at 10am. Our high schoolers participate in a ‘Current Events’ curriculum, which discusses what’s happening in our world around us, and how we respond to and incorporate these events within our faith journey. Our middle schoolers study the Confirmation curriculum, which is taught in a three year rotation.
Adaptive Sunday School
We have recently added a Sunday school class for students with special needs. Staffed by trained professionals and volunteers, this group enjoys Bible lessons and crafts while their parents attend church or Sunday school. The class meets from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm and may be attended for one or two hours.
Confirmation Ministry (Grades 6-8)
Confirmation is taught to our Middle School youth during the regularly scheduled Sunday school class time, each Sunday morning at 10am. Our Confirmation is a three year program, covering the Old Testament, The New Testament, and The Small Catechism. Eighth graders are confirmed in May of each year.
Friends of Faith
This group offers fun, education, and fellowship for our children birth through 12th grade. Meeting each Wednesday from 5:30 to 7:00 pm, children and youth visit centers for crafts, music, Bible study, and dinner! The Children’s Choir, meeting during Friends of Faith, sings regularly in worship. There is a registration fee for this program to cover the cost of the meal. We meet for two 12- week semesters beginning in August and January.
Little Friends of Faith
Little FOF is a ministry for children under age 4 along with their parent(s). There are fun-filled activities for the children throughout the evening and fellowship for the adults, including dinner together. A wonderful way for our little ones and parents to bond, the schedule coincides with Friends of Faith, which older siblings may attend.
Friends of Faith Teens
Middle and high school students meet on Wednesday nights from 5:30 to 7:00 pm. The group offers learning time, fellowship, and service. FOF Teens follows the Friends of Faith schedule with dinner served at 6:30 pm. There is a fee to cover the cost of the meal.
CTL Youth have their own Worship Team that plans weekly and leads worship quarterly on Sundays. They meet for planning and rehearsal on Sundays at 11 am, following the Sunday school schedule.
Children in first through fifth grade are welcome to participate in the Children’s Chime Choir, which meets on Sundays at 11:00 am. They share their music in Sunday services.
Vacation Bible School
A summertime tradition, VBS fills the halls, the classes, the sanctuary, the fellowship hall, the parking lot— you get the picture! Join us for this action-packed, Spirit-packed week.
Servant Camp for Preteens
At a week-long day camp, rising fifth, sixth, and seventh graders benefit from experiences in outreach and adventure. The group serves various organizations in the community during the morning. After lunch, fellowship and fun activities like bowling and laser tag are planned for the group.
Servant Camp for Teens
This is a week-long camp experience for youth who have completed grades 7-12. Youth participate in faith formation, community service, and leadership development. This is not offered during National Youth Gathering years.
All Georgia Youth Gathering
A weekend retreat for youth in grades 6 through 12 to come together in fellowship and worship with other Lutheran youth from the state.
A week-long summer camp for youth in grades 6 through 12, sponsored by the Southeastern Synod.
“Southeastern Synod Lutheran Youth Organization” is for high schoolers who are looking to be leaders within their congregations and their Synod. Each year, our church sends two delegates (high school) and a few ‘visitors’ to the Annual SESLYO meeting. Many of our youth have been Board Members! Here is a way for the voice of the youth to be heard throughout the ELCA!
National Youth Gathering
The ELCA Youth Gathering is for high school-aged youth (completed grades 9-12). The National Youth Gathering is a triennial event that takes place over five days – Wednesday to Sunday – and includes opportunities for worship, service, fellowship, study and holy play.
